The Computer Arts Society would like to wish drawing machine pioneer Dr Jack Tait a very happy 90th birthday.
Jack has been a long-time member of CAS and was the subject of a special issue of PAGE magazine (PAGE 65) in 2007. Since creating his first drawing machine in 1960, he has explored machine drawing extensively. He has built many machines, experimented with different drawing techniques, and produced hundreds of artworks.
The Computer Arts Archive in Leicester has been working with Jack to document his practice and has recently been the recipient of four of his electromechanical drawing machines. Throughout March, April and May, there will be an exhibition of Jack's artwork in the Phoenix Café Bar in Leicester with showings of the machines at special events. The next event will be on Monday 18th March at Phoenix, where Jack will join the meeting via Zoom.
Learn more about Jack Tait's drawing machines and artworks on the Computer Arts Society's Jack Tait Exhibition Page. An exhibition catalogue will be available in April.
