The CAS50 Collection was put together in 2018 to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Computer Arts Society in 1968. Initially, it featured printed worts by 12 artists - Stephen Bell, Peter Beyls, boredomresearch, Daniel Brown, Paul Brown, Sean Clark, Ernest Edmonds, Sue Gollifer, Desmond Henry, William Latham, Andy Lomas and Stephen Scrivener. Leicester-based Interact Digital Arts received and Arts Council grant to show the work at the LCB Depot in Leicester and Phoenix Brighton.
A second phase of collecting in 2019 say work by Damien Borowik, Anna Dumitriu, Genetic Moo, Gibson/Martelli, Alex May, Gordana Novaković, Fabrizio Poltronieri, Esther Rolinson, Roger Saunders, Brian Reffin Smith, Jack Tait and Patrick Tresset added to the collection and a full exhibition of work by all 24 artists was then shown at Event Two at the Royal College of Art in July 2019.
Artwork from the collection has since gone on to be shown as part of the V&A Digital Design Weekend and BCS Moordate in London. The collection became a founding part of of the Computer Arts Archive and is now available for exhibition elsewhere.
The exhibition catalogue is available as a free downloadable PDF. A limited number of printed copies were also published.
